Ryan’s World AI Case Study
Increasing Ecommerce conversion rates with one-of-one content using GenAI

Client & Overview
Ryan’s World is a YouTube channel for children aged 2-6. With over 37 million subscribers, the Ryan’s World YouTube channel ranks in the top 10 most subscribed channels in the United States. In the spring of 2024, the creators of Ryan’s World and the team at Vermillio joined forces to create a first-of-its-kind GenAI experience that allowed fans of Ryan’s World to create their very own, one-of-one superheroes that they could then print on clothing and accessories. All of this was to support the Ryan’s World movie release scheduled for August 2024.
Goal
Drive fan engagement and excitement around the upcoming Titan Universe Adventure film release.
Project
With the upcoming release of the Ryan’s World: Titan Universe Adventure movie, the team at Ryan’s needed a way to drive interest and announce the film before its initial release date. After several creative meetings, it was decided to move forward, in partnership with Vermillio, and create a superhero application that leveraged GenAI to create custom, one-of-one superheroes. The goal was to drive fan engagement and allow kids and parents alike to create their own, unique, one-of-one superheroes that they could then show-off while attending the movie in person.

Key Challenges
• Navigating rules around marketing and kids entertainment products
• Sourcing enough of the right data to produce AI models needed
• Building an experience that was accessible to all and as inclusive as possible
• Available time to discover, design, build, test, market
• One-of-One Print on Demand order fulfillment

The Approach
Protect the Ryan’s World brand with Vermillio’s TraceID™
All IP entrusted to Vermillio by Ryan’s World was secured through Vermillio’s TraceID™ — the sole platform offering protection and licensing capabilities for brands in the era of GenAI.
Build a Custom AI model and Utilize Pose Control To Make It an Interactive Experience
Leveraging IP and data from Ryan’s World, Vermillio developed models capable of generating designs inspired by the film, user selections, and poses.
The web app employed pose recognition technology to identify poses made in front of the camera without recording or capturing any data, ensuring children’s privacy. This approach created a fun and interactive experience for both parents and children.
One-of-one Print on Demand
Print On Demand (POD) isn’t designed for unique, one-of-one graphics. To accommodate real-time ai-generated images exclusive to each fan, a purchase process was developed to print custom merchandise without pre-creating inventory, unlike traditional POD. Fans were able to select from t-shirts, hats, water bottles, hoodies, lunch boxes and more.
The Results
The Ryan’s World AI Application experienced a high rate of user engagement with over 90% of new users creating at least 1 superhero and in total, over 9,000 unique superheroes had been generated. More impressive was the click-through-rate to initiate the shopping experience. Over 42% of users who created a superhero went on to shop merchandise with the initial baseline conversion rates coming in at almost 3x above industry standards.
The percent of active shoppers and the high conversion rates speaks to the value of these one-of-one, personalized GenAI images. What’s more is that the team at Ryan’s World did not need to spend any design time to create the personalized content – it was able to scale exponentially with zero increases in production time and/or costs.
