We are proud to announce Matthew Ball as an advisor to Vermillio

Entertainment, media, and metaverse expert Matthew Ball has collaborated with Vermillio since 2020

Today, we’re thrilled to publicly announce renowned entertainment, media, and metaverse expert Matthew Ball as an advisor to Vermillio. Matthew has partnered with us since 2020 and brings a wealth of experience as the CEO of Epyllion as well as a TV, film, and video game producer, and the co-founder of the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF on the New York Stock Exchange. Matthew also serves as a venture partner at Makers Fund, senior advisor to KKR, and contributor to The Economist. He previously served as head of strategy for Amazon Studios. His appointment advances our commitment to transforming creativity by giving fans access to the best possible experience as they engage with content from their favorite artists, creators, and IP holders.

Matthew’s acclaimed 2022 book, The Metaverse, became an instant national bestseller in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Japan. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings described it as “foundational reading for anyone that wants to understand the possibilities of the Metaverse” — a thought echoed by the Financial Times, which said it “serves as a comprehensive guide to every aspect of the metaverse.” Packed with insights on how technology is disrupting established business models and structures, the book sheds light on the role AI will play in providing the underlying technical underpinnings for virtual worlds. As we look towards a future defined by AI-created content and other digital goods, Matthew’s counsel will strengthen Vermillio’s leadership in the generative AI space and beyond. Additional essays on technology written by Matthew are available on his website.

“I’ve always focused on ‘what’s next’ for entertainment companies. Irrespective of the medium, technology, and business model, I believe it’s essential for creators and content owners to have transparent, verifiable, and permission-based usage of their work, as well as compensation from it,” said Matthew. “I’m excited to join a company that is leading the way in helping entertainment companies expand their narratives and business, while delighting millions of new fans, through generative AI,” he added.

“Matthew’s expert perspective on the entertainment industry will empower us to help creators and IP holders realize the massive opportunities presented by generative AI,” said Vermillio co-founder and CEO Dan Neely. “We need new ways to protect and monetize beloved IP through the exchange of authenticated digital goods.”
